Muay Thai on the Main Stage: ONE Championship to Host 52 events at Lumpinee in 2023

Next year, Lumpinee Stadium will host 52 ONE Championship events. Some of the greatest names in sports attended today's press conference where the announcement was made.

As the stadium's primary promoter, Chatri Sityodtong will formally begin the activities in January 2023. There have already been 11 ONE Championship events in Bangkok, all of which were hosted in the Impact Arena.

Additionally, ONE Championship would spend $100 million over the next few years to support the expansion of Muay Thai.

Nong-O Gaiyanghadao and Stamp Fairtex were among the well-known people present. Both boxers will compete at a ONE Championship event that will take place in Bangkok in January at the Impact Arena.

Their rivals' identities remained a secret. Smilla Sundell, who was present at the press briefing, is anticipated to defend her championship on the January schedule.

In comparison to other Thai promoters at the time, Chatri declared that he would offer substantially larger payouts. While athletes like Rodtang might make millions of baht competing for ONE Championship, Rajdamnern or Lumpinee Muay Thai fights only pay a small portion of this sum.

When Chatri was a little child, he would go to Muay Thaiat the original Lumpinee Stadium in Thailand. He will be broadcasting the weekly events to all nations and has been active in the sport for almost 40 years.

“I never imagined when I started Muay Thai 38 years ago at Sityodtong gym that it would lead to this moment. I’ve lived Muay Thai as a student, a competitor, a teacher, and now a CEO. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that one day I would be the main promoter for the Lumpinee Stadium to showcase our national treasure to the world. For the first time in history, Lumpinee will be broadcast live to 154 countries.”

About Lumpinee Stadium

On December 8, 1956, Lumpinee Boxing Stadium was established. It is currently one of Thailand's largest operating standard boxing stadiums. The Royal Thai Army has been in charge of the Stadium. Prior to moving to its current location at Ram Intra Road in Bangkok in February 2014, it was located on Rama IV Road.

The Stadium is currently equipped to accommodate both Thai and foreign Muaythai attendances in every season because to its high capacity and international standard.

For more than 60 years, Lumpinee Boxing Stadium has consistently been the most significant component for all relevant professional Muaythai, including Muaythai boxers, promoters, genuine local Muaythai fans, and any other interested parties. Every match day has been packed with a cacophony of local, fervent supporters who truly enjoy authentic, traditional Muaythai.
