The fitness industry has grown exponentially over the past few years. Influencers on social media have played a big role in the growth and inspiration of many people around the world.
It’s a great idea to follow fitness influencers on Instagram when you’re on your weight loss journey as they can keep you inspired, help you stay motivated, and can make your social media usage productive rather than just endlessly scrolling.
Some of the best steps to losing body fat that I used were inspired by social media influencers and have played a HUGE part in my weightloss journey.
If you’re looking for fitness motivation, we’ve put together a list of 5 popular fitness influencers on Instagram that you should definitely be following.
James Smith PT
Known for his no-bullshit approach, calling people out and simplifying the weight loss process. James Smith is definitely at the top of my list of fitness influencers to follow.
There are no special pills, powders, or lose weight quick guides with James Smith. And that’s why I was drawn to his content.
His simple policy of calories in/calories out, enjoying life, and trusting in consistency is why I’ve ranked James Smith PT as one of the top 10 fitness influencers to follow.

Your favourite athlete
Now this one is going to be very weird as there isn’t a specific account, this will be personal to you. If you’re into a specific sport or training, it’s definitely good to find a personality within that sport that you like to follow.
They may not share specific tips for weight loss, but you may pick up some new techniques that will keep you inspired and on track.
As I like to study and train in martial arts, I follow a lot of martial artists, especially from the Muay Thai world. This helps me pick up techniques that I can use which I can work into my training and ultimately contribute to my weight loss.
If you’re studying Muay Thai specifically I’ve left some accounts below that may just give you that spark of inspiration.
Liam Harrison
The 8x world champion Muay Thai fighter that is Liam Harrison was the first western Thai fighter who inspired me to take up Muay Thai. Known for his serious knockout power, devastating low kicks, and holding his own against some of the best Thai boxers.

Sylvie von Duuglas-Ittu Muay Thai
As I started to study more about Muay Thai, and its history and just wanted to get a deeper knowledge, I stumbled across Sylvie’s channel on YouTube.
Sylvie started the Muay Thai Libary, a series where she visits, trains with, and shares stories of some of the golden age Thai fighters.
As a fighter herself, she brings her viewers along to training sessions with golden-age Thai fighters who share the techniques that made them legendary in the art of 8 limbs.
If you’re into Muay Thai, just getting started, or have an interest in the deep history of fighting culture, Sylvie is definitely one to keep following.

Joey Swoll
Here’s another great account that I follow for weightlifting. The self-proclaimed CEO of gym positivity and he’s not wrong. With millions of followers, he calls out negativity in the gym whilst providing some great advice on lifts that you can work into your lifting days.

Louis Montaño Fitness
Whilst some of the movements and workouts that Louis shows are a bit more advanced, there are definitely a lot of takeaways that you can get from his content.
His movements, motivation, and dedication he has to his fitness enhancement will only inspire you to get out and burn a few more calories and keep working on yourself.
