Who's fighting at UFC 279

Headlining the event is UFC legend Nate Diaz. Known for his gangster like bravado, winner of UFC's Ultimate Fighter season 5, his fights with the new welterweight champion Leon Edwards and so much more. 

There's no denying that Nate Diaz is an icon, not only in the world of UFC but the broader MMA world. 

When Diaz made his official MMA debut, he mostly participated for World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC). He competed against Hermes França, the current WEC Lightweight Champion, at WEC 24 in 2006, but was defeated via submission in the second round.

This was the final competition the WEC hosted before being bought out by Zuffa, LLC, the UFC's parent corporation at the time.

Joining Diaz in the Octagon is Tony Ferguson. Both known for their fan friendly fight styles and ability to take as much damage as possible whilst still walking forward and landing shots.
